Description

Targeted removal of phenolic compounds. EnviZyme WW1 contains a phenol degrading blend of bacteria with high biodegradation activity, together with a high tolerance of these artificial mono-aromatic compounds for application to waste water and industrial effluents containing phenol, cresols and related aromatic compounds. These strains contain vegetative and spore forming bacterial strains capable of utilizing aerobic and facultative metabolic pathways, and can grow aerobically at elevated concentrations of phenols, allowing for a stable re-enforcement of biomass within the system.

Application

EnviZyme WW1 is recommended for improved biodegradation of waste waters from the following industries:

  • Petroleum and natural gas refining and petrochemical manufacturing, including many amine-bearing organics;
  • Food processing including: dairies, fruit, distilleries, tanneries, poultry, vegetable oil recovery, corn sweetener and starch manufacturing;
  • Specialty chemical manufacturing such as paints, pigments, phenolic resins, rubber, styrene, lubricants and surfactants;
  • Textile mills and textile chemical plants;
  • Steel making and coking operations

Optimum conditions for use

The bacteria in EnviZyme WW1 perform within a pH range of between 6.0 and 9.0, with optimum activity near a pH of 7.0. Temperature affects the growth rate of the bacterial population and activity improves to a temperature between 37°C and 38°C (99°F to 100°F). No appreciable activity can be expected below 5°C (40°F) and above 40°C (104°F).

Preparation

EnviZyme WW1 may be added directly to the waste influent stream or aerated basin. For toxic wastes or short retention times, re-hydration for between 30 to 90 minutes prior to its addition to a waste system is recommended, using 9 litres of water per 500g of EnviZyme WW1. For best results, the make-up water temperature range should be between 21°C and 31°C (70°F to 90°F).

Storage and handling

Store in a cool dry place at room temperature. The recommended storage temperature is within a range of 1°C and 23°C (34°F to 73°F). Avoid excessive inhalation. Avoid contact with eyes. Wash hands thoroughly with warm, soapy water after handling.
