Description

Aquaculture of fish, crustaceans, molluscs, and algal plants is one of the fastest-growing food-producing sectors; however, there is an urgent need to develop microbial control strategies, since disease outbreaks are increasingly recognized as important constraints to aquaculture production and trade, affecting the economic development of the sector in many countries. One of the alternatives to antimicrobials in disease control could be the use of probiotic bacteria as microbial control agents.

EnviZyme Algae-T is comprised of a synergistic blend of microorganisms and high efficiency enzymes. These enzymes particularly proteases are used to digest the waste build up in the pond and greatly increase water clarity by hydrolysing the proteinaceous waste materials that build up. EnviZyme Algae-T helps maintain water quality during the crop cycle, degrade organic bottom wastes and effectively regulate the algae bloom, along with managing H2S and increasing Dissolved Oxygen (DO). EnviZyme Algae-T maintains a natural balance between sludge digestion, nitrogen cycling and oxygen consumption.

Optimum conditions for use

The biological bacteria and enzyme combination performs within a pH range of between 6.0 and 9.0, with optimum activity near a pH of 7.0. Temperature affects the growth rate of the bacterial population and activity improves with a temperature of between 37°C and 38°C (99°F to 100°F). No appreciable activity can be expected below 5°C (40°F) and above 40°C (104°F).

Preparation

EnviZyme Algae-T may be added directly to the pond or aerated lagoon.

Storage and handling

Store in a cool dry place at room temperature. The recommended storage temperature is within a range of 1°C and 23°C (34°F to 73°F). Avoid excessive inhalation. Avoid contact with eyes. Wash hands thoroughly with warm, soapy water after handling.
